A specialist tour operator has ceased operations and initiated proceedings to bring in an administrator following financial difficulties.
Wayfairer Travel Limited, established in 2012, focused on curating bespoke travel experiences to international destinations such as the Maldives, Japan, Peru, and Egypt.
After operating for more than 14 years within the travel sector, the company has now halted all operations with immediate effect until further notice is provided.
A company representative expressed regret regarding the disruption caused, stating that all services have been suspended while appropriate professional guidance is sought.
The statement indicated that formal clarification would follow once legal and accounting advice had been obtained, with an update anticipated during the week beginning 31 August.
The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust confirmed receipt of notification that the operator was unable to sustain business activities and would be pursuing an administration appointment.
The organisation clarified that, given the inability to guarantee fulfillment of existing bookings, measures were being implemented to support affected British customers who met eligibility criteria.
Customers holding reservations with Wayfairer Travel dated on or before 30 September 2026 have been advised against proceeding with their trips.
Those with departure dates scheduled beyond that threshold should await additional communication unless contacted separately with alternative guidance.
Refund processes differ based on booking circumstances.
Passengers possessing an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence Certificate may contact the trust directly via telephone or email to initiate claims.
British customers lacking such certification should first submit reimbursement requests through their card provider, obtaining documented confirmation of any rejection before approaching the trust through its designated claims platform.
Coverage does not extend to bookings made by individuals residing outside the United Kingdom, who should instead pursue remedies through their payment provider, insurance policy, or booking agent.
The collapse of Wayfairer Travel follows a series of business failures within the British travel industry throughout 2026.
Several operators have either ceased trading or entered administration during this period.
Similarly, four British carriers have undergone liquidation or administration proceedings, affecting customers across the sector.
