A 39-year-old from Pontefract and a 35-year-old from Barnsley have been handed custodial sentences after entering guilty pleas to multiple offences in the Wakefield area.
Damian Lee, residing at Camelot Court in Pontefract, and James Reynolds, whose address was listed as Dove Hill in Barnsley, acknowledged involvement in break-ins and motor vehicle thefts occurring throughout Notton and Upton in May.
Both defendants entered pleas of guilty to two charges of burglary committed with intent to steal, alongside two counts of motor vehicle theft.
Reynolds additionally admitted counts of possessing controlled drugs belonging to both Class A and Class B categories with intent to supply, along with criminal damage.
At Leeds Crown Court on the 29th of August, Lee was ordered to serve three years behind bars.
Reynolds received a significantly longer term of seven years and two months.
Detective Constable Abbi Depledge, attached to the Wakefield District Crime Team, stated that the sentences imposed on the pair were welcomed by investigators.
The officer described the pair as individuals who operated without regard for their victims, targeting properties solely for personal profit.
Victims involved in the case should find reassurance in knowing that two offenders responsible for numerous break-ins have now been incarcerated, according to DC Depledge.
Both vehicles that were taken during the criminal episode were recovered by officers and subsequently handed back to their rightful owners.
DC Depledge indicated that surveillance footage from CCTV systems and residential doorbell cameras proved instrumental in establishing connections between Reynolds, Lee and the criminal activity.
