An investigation targeting the unlawful trade of endangered creatures culminated in the discovery of 32 parrots at a residence in Bradford on 27 August.
The birds are believed to have entered the country through improper channels, according to authorities.
A coordinated effort involving multiple organisations led to the execution of a warrant at the property.
West Yorkshire Police’s City Neighbourhood Policing Unit collaborated with officials from Bradford Council, the National Wildlife Crime Unit, officers from Keighley neighbourhoods, general patrol personnel, and representatives from the Animal and Plant Health Agency during the operation.
The parrots recovered during the search are understood to have been smuggled into the United Kingdom in breach of wildlife protection regulations.
Authorities have declined to specify the precise address or confirm whether any individuals have been detained in connection with the matter.
Investigators are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the birds’ arrival in the country and establish their current ownership.
The case has been described by officials as illustrating the significance of joint working between agencies when addressing criminal activity involving vulnerable wildlife species.
Further updates regarding the investigation are expected to be provided at a later stage.
