A group of seven young footballers have secured deals with professional clubs’ youth systems, with Seth Illingworth among those earning a place at Bradford City’s academy.
The players, who have trained under James Illingworth and Gavin Coonan, have secured placements at academies throughout England after demonstrating sustained commitment and achievement over several years.
According to James Illingworth, the cohort has represented an exceptional group of individuals over the past three seasons, with their progress representing a significant milestone for the young sportspeople involved.
The squad members have dedicated extensive hours to their development, maintaining consistent training schedules despite facing various challenges throughout their progression.
Seth’s fellow academy signatories include Frank Tongue, who has joined Blackburn Rovers, while Ollie Emmett has moved to Sheffield Wednesday.
Harry Coonan, Oliver Webster, Walter Hill and Josh Illingworth have secured places at Sheffield United, Mansfield Town, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town respectively.
The young squad frequently competed in age categories above their own, participating in the Garforth and Huddersfield leagues.
Initially playing within their correct age group, the team was reorganised into older divisions after accumulating victories exceeding 40 goals, prompting league officials to reassess competitive balance.
James Illingworth noted that while a single player securing academy recognition would constitute a notable accomplishment, the achievement of seven individuals represents an exceptional outcome.
Approximately 90 percent of the group reside within a short distance of Horsfall Stadium.
The coaches expressed gratitude towards Frame2 in the BD3 area, where training sessions were frequently conducted during weekends when scheduled matches did not proceed.
The facility was described as providing a favourable environment for young players to develop their skills.
Joe Brown was acknowledged for his initial coaching involvement with the players during their early development.
Both James Illingworth and Gavin Coonan will now reduce their involvement with the squad, as their respective sons are among those who have progressed to academy football.
