A man has died following a road traffic incident on Killinghall Road in the Bradford area.
Emergency services attended the scene near Bradford Moor Park after reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle were received at approximately 8.56pm on Thursday evening.
Police officers established a cordoned area while emergency personnel remained at the location for several hours.
Following enquiries, two individuals were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Both are women, aged 19 and 47, and have been detained on suspicion of dangerous driving.
By Friday afternoon, both remained in police custody.
The road traffic collision occurred in close proximity to the residence of Councillor Zafar Iqbal, who represents the Labour Party for Bradford Moor ward.
The councillor described the circumstances as an incredibly tragic event.
He stated that behind such an incident lies a family enduring profound loss while a community processes what has occurred.
His sympathies were extended to the man’s relatives and those closest to him during what he acknowledged would be an extraordinarily difficult period.
The councillor also expressed appreciation for the emergency services personnel who attended and provided assistance under challenging conditions.
Councillor Riaz Ahmed, representing the Liberal Democrat Party for Bradford Moor ward, likewise conveyed his sorrow regarding the circumstances.
He offered his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who perished in the collision.
The councillor noted awareness that two people had been apprehended on suspicion of dangerous driving.
He emphasised the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed without interference and urged anyone possessing relevant footage or who witnessed the incident to make contact with authorities, suggesting that even minor details could prove beneficial to the investigation.
Local residents spoke of their distress following the occurrence.
One resident indicated they had been occupied with putting their child to bed at the time and had not witnessed the event directly, though they reported hearing police vehicles and observing officers at the scene.
The individual described the situation as very upsetting.
Another resident expressed sympathy for the man’s family, while a third person commented that although they had not seen what transpired, the situation was deeply sad.
