Participants are being sought for an athletic endurance event set in the dramatic landscape that shaped the famous literary family.

The annual occasion, scheduled for September 20 between Haworth and Burnley, encompasses a half marathon, a 10-kilometre race, and an off-road cycling challenge, all designed to raise funds for palliative and end-of-life care services.

Athletes competing on foot or astride a bicycle will traverse terrain that served as inspiration for the Brontë sisters’ literary works.

A competitive element known as the heels versus wheels challenge permits participants to measure their performance against those using alternate methods of locomotion via a dedicated smartphone application.

Mountain biking enthusiasts, including those operating electrically assisted bicycles, may select from four routes bearing thematic titles: Heathcliffe spanning 35.6 miles, Charlotte covering 26.4 miles, Emily extending 22.3 miles, and Anne at 15 miles.

Foot racers undertaking the half marathon distance will complete 13.1 miles.riders on the Charlotte course will traverse a distance approximately double that of the running event.

Every competitor will receive a custom neck scarf and a traditional hot meal featuring pie and peas upon completion.

The fundraising initiative has generated roughly £200,000 for Sue Ryder’s care services over successive years, with proceeds supporting palliative and end-of-life provisions throughout West Yorkshire.

The charitable organisation additionally delivers digital bereavement assistance, informational materials, and peer support networks for those navigating grief.

Registration details and further particulars can be accessed through official event pages.

The occasion is supported by Pure Residential Lettings and All Terrain Cycles.
