Bradford City Hall features in new All Creatures Great and Small series

A television broadcaster has shared fresh imagery revealing how Bradford’s City Hall served as a filming location for the current series of the popular veterinary drama.

Production crews transformed the West Yorkshire city centre in March, converting streets such as Centenary Square to replicate a 1950s setting for the show.

Performers dressed in period attire were filmed walking through the area surrounding the municipal building, while equipment vehicles holding production materials positioned themselves behind the filming equipment.

Nicholas Ralph appears in the released photographs portraying the central character James Herriot, walking along the pavement near City Hall.

Additional images display scenes from the seventh series captured within the historic Bradford structure.

The new series is scheduled to premiere at 9pm on Thursday, September 17, with Channel 5 unveiling a collection of promotional stills that prominently feature the city.

The opening episode, titled Back to School, returns viewers to the Yorkshire Dales in 1946 following the conclusion of the Second World War.

The narrative reunites the established ensemble of characters as they look forward to a fresh beginning.

According to production notes, the character of James expresses enthusiasm about progress within veterinary practice, though the arrival of a competing veterinary professional creates tension within the established dynamic.

While broader societal changes continue externally, the programme promises continued escapism through its depiction of rural Yorkshire life, maintaining the warmth and community spirit that has characterised previous seasons.

The first instalment follows James demonstrating his capabilities as an experienced veterinarian, while Helen evaluates investment possibilities for the agricultural enterprise and seeks to involve Richard in her plans.

Upon a new veterinary practitioner’s arrival in the fictional setting of Darrowby, Siegfried harbours reservations about the newcomer’s methods while Tristan reacts favourably to his approach, leaving James to reassess his own position.

A sequence set within a local confectionery depicts sweet shop proprietor Geoff Hatfield seeking assistance regarding his feline companion named Alfred, with James initially unable to diagnose the animal’s ailment.

Siegfried appears to benefit from Dorothy’s influence while Mrs Hall appreciates having her companion nearby.

Young Jimmy anticipates beginning his educational journey while navigating the adjustments this new chapter brings.
