An England Under-19s cricket call-up was announced for Subhaan Ali during the MACC Academy awards ceremony at Headingley Stadium.
The second annual event took place in the Howard Suite on September 13, drawing more than 300 attendees to honour young cricketers and coaching staff.
Ashraf, who founded the academy in 2023 and previously played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, expressed satisfaction with the organisation’s advancement since the inaugural awards.
He outlined efforts to connect young players with competitive opportunities at national and international levels while thanking local businesses and community groups for their sponsorship and support.
The MACC Academy provides development pathways for cricketers between 9 and 19 years old from Bradford and surrounding areas, aiming to produce elite-level performers.
This year, the programme featured domestic matches and a European tour, with the Under-17 side completing their Netherlands fixtures at the summit of the standings.
Recognition was distributed across six classifications encompassing individual and coaching achievements.
Dual honours were presented to Zaydan Bhamji, who secured both the emerging talent and peer-voted accolades, describing the outcome as an unexpected honour reflecting months of dedicated effort and peer acknowledgement.
Charitable contributions were collected for the academy’s scholarship fund and the National Autistic Society.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s operations chief and a former club captain were present, with both stressing the necessity of perseverance and methodical improvement throughout a professional career.
The gathering received backing from Mylahore as principal partner, in addition to contributions from other regional enterprises.
