Television personality Anita Rani marked the launch of a fresh retail outlet in Bradford’s central district by receiving a glamorous transformation on Saturday.
Rani, known for her television presenting work and recent participation in the BBC programme Race Across the World, conducted the official ceremony to open the Bodycare Studio location within The Broadway Bradford shopping complex.
During her remarks, Rani explained that her connection to the new establishment stemmed from her childhood visits to the Bodycare store at the Arndale Centre.
She noted that her birthplace in Bradford meant she had spent considerable time in the area and expressed enthusiasm for affordable yet quality beauty products.
The presenter observed that the city centre possessed an energetic atmosphere and suggested that a retailer such as Bodycare would contribute positively to the area’s commercial appeal.
She encouraged local residents to complete their purchases within Bradford rather than travelling to Leeds or other destinations.
Onlookers assembled to witness Rani sever the ceremonial ribbon, thereby declaring the premises officially operational.
Tash Courtney-Smith, who serves as chief marketing officer for Bodycare, revealed that Rani would participate as the focal point for an Asian celebration-themed make-up workshop led by professional celebrity make-up artist Min Sandhu.
Rani addressed those present, commenting on her pleasure at returning to the city of her upbringing while wielding oversized ceremonial scissors for the ribbon-cutting.
She outlined her plans to undergo an Asian-inspired glamorous makeover with Sandhu before encouraging attendees to make purchases at the new establishment.
She proclaimed Bradford’s appreciation for value-for-money deals and asserted that the store offered numerous such opportunities, describing the ethos as achieving style on a limited budget.
Courtney-Smith expressed satisfaction at Bodycare’s return to the traditional high street environment, noting the value of community support and her pleasure at welcoming Rani to the occasion.
Emma Bellamy, responsible for retail operations at Bodycare, discussed the company’s recent trajectory.
She described the opening as a homecoming, mentioning that her own tenure with the organisation spanned 28 years following her initial employment as a weekend sales assistant at the age of 16.
She highlighted that the shop had materialised with completely bare shelving just ten days prior to its unveiling.
Local residents Jade Logan and Taty Smith, both Bradford natives, offered their reactions to the store’s arrival.
Logan disclosed that her engagement with Bodycare began approximately five or six years previously, when she and her companion would visit the outlet before social outings.
She expressed delight at encountering Rani, citing her viewership of the presenter on Race Across the World.
Dr Freyaa Ali, proprietor of Dr Freyaa Aesthetics, welcomed Rani’s presence, characterising the Bradford-born television figure as inspirational for South Asian women.
Her sibling Aiman Ali observed that Rani represented South Asian women across social media platforms and suggested she challenged conventional expectations while demonstrating that achievements remained accessible to all.
