An annual celebration honouring two decades of autumn customs and family entertainment is preparing to open its gates once more.
The Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival, situated at a family-run agricultural business in Yorkshire, has developed into a significant seasonal draw, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
The event was established by Rob and Heather Copley following a journey to North America, where the concept of harvesting pumpkins from fields first caught their attention.
The celebration has since become a fixed fixture on the regional autumn calendar.
According to Heather Copley, the idea originated from that American excursion two decades prior, and the couple had no notion of how substantially it would expand.
Looking at images from the inaugural events, what resonates most is the human element and the shared moments created there.
Testimonials from visitors indicate that youngsters captured in those early photographs have now reached secondary school age, illustrating how many generations have developed fond associations with the venue.
While cultivating the pumpkins and designing an enjoyable experience for guests remains important, the fundamental purpose centres on providing families with a space to forge lasting recollections together.
That objective has consistently been the driving force behind their efforts.
The event now showcases in excess of 300,000 pumpkins cultivated on-site, representing over 40 distinct cultivars, distributed throughout the property in displays featuring orange, white, green, and striped specimens.
Guests benefit from an array of attractions, including tractor-drawn wagon journeys, theatrical performances, target practice with bows, heritage amusement park attractions, and daily costume contests.
Beloved characters such as Velcro the Scarecrow make appearances, alongside themed activities including Witches’ Storytime sessions.
Photography stations are positioned throughout the grounds, featuring installations like the Pumpkin House, a restored Chevrolet pick-up from the classic era, and the How Tall This Fall measuring display.
Culinary vendors present dishes and snacks featuring pumpkin as the primary ingredient, and guests are welcomed to transport pumpkins away to prepare autumnal recipes including soups and pastry-based desserts.
The current season introduces Twilight Pumpkin Picking evenings, complete with acoustic performances, toasted marshmallows, and refreshments served from the dedicated Pumpkin Bar.
The Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival operates on chosen dates spanning from late September through early November 2026, with after-dark programming, live country music evenings, and prolonged opening hours for twilight sessions.
