A motorist passing through Bradford encountered an unusually high diesel price displayed at a local petrol station during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The Londis Esso forecourt on Wakefield Road in Bowling showed diesel priced at 299.9p per litre at 3.40am on September 24.
The inflated figure prompted the driver to stop specifically to photograph the sign.
A representative from Camarco, which represents the fuel retailer, explained that the displayed price resulted from a temporary error on the signage.
The correct price at that particular location is 201.9p per litre.
The pole-mounted sign has since been corrected to reflect the accurate figure.
The petrol station serves the Bowling and East Bowling neighbourhood of Bradford.
According to the most recent weekly government fuel price statistics covering the week ending 21 September 2026, the current United Kingdom average diesel price stands at approximately 195.5p per litre.
The elevated fuel costs across the United Kingdom have been attributed to the continuing conflict in the Middle East, which has significantly disrupted worldwide oil supplies.
This situation has driven crude oil prices above $100 per barrel and resulted in a shortage of diesel, with these increases being subsequently passed on to consumers at the pump.
Attempts were made to reach the petrol station for comment regarding the pricing discrepancy.
