A fresh programme is preparing to highlight a city’s historical legacy and creative potential through the viewpoints of its younger inhabitants.

Young ambassadors working with Bradford Museums will examine the urban area’s bygone era and current state as part of an initiative under the direction of practitioner Donna Templeman.

Individuals spanning sixteen to twenty-five years of age are being asked to contribute to substantial creative pieces destined for a forthcoming presentation, incorporating a three-dimensional genetic-form sculpture alongside an extensive textile composition.

Councillor Ian Walker, holding the portfolio for neighbourhoods and communities within Bradford Council, offered remarks regarding the endeavour, indicating that it furnishes a worthwhile opening for young inhabitants to work alongside established professionals and embed their perspectives firmly within the district’s cultural inheritance, linking former times with what lies ahead.

An open session for community participation is arranged for Sunday, October 4 at Cliffe Castle Museum located in Keighley, operating between 11am and 3pm.

Those present will assist in formulating elements for the textile piece, drawing upon their sense of self, family background, and residential location.

The completed pieces will be exhibited during a gathering in December, forming part of a presentation that will additionally include items of personal significance, objects from history, and recorded material sourced from archives and chosen by the young ambassadors.

The presentation becomes accessible to the general public on Saturday, December 5 at Bradford Industrial Museum.
