A local air force cadet unit has secured financial support to cover the cost of replacing apparatus destroyed during recent flooding in the area.
The Shipley and Baildon detachment of Royal Air Force Cadets obtained a grant totalling £4,040 from the West Riding Freemasons organisation, with the funding channelled through the Baildon-based Corinthian Lodge.
The financial allocation was directed toward purchasing replacement information technology resources and outdoor adventure equipment that had been rendered unusable after flooding affected the Aire Valley region.
Corinthian Lodge’s former master Richard Knowles confirmed that the organisation had been pleased to provide the grant as part of ongoing efforts to maintain connections with the Shipley and Baildon community.
The cadets subsequently expressed their gratitude for the assistance, and lodge representatives were said to have been particularly impressed by the manner in which the new resources were being utilised.
The funding was made available through the Community Fund operated by West Riding Masonic Charities Limited and covered the acquisition of an interactive smart display screen alongside fresh adventure equipment for outdoor activities.
Representatives from Corinthian Lodge travelled to the squadron’s base on Green Lane in Shipley on Monday 21 September to observe the newly acquired resources in operation.
According to the lodge, awareness of the unit arose following a presentation by the cadets showcasing their capabilities.
The subsequent loss of equipment prompted members of Corinthian Lodge to investigate how they might offer assistance to the cadets.
