70-year resident demands floor repairs after leak at Bingley home

A resident who has occupied her property in a Bradford district for seven decades has expressed frustration over an ongoing leak that has disrupted her living arrangements.

Ann Speight, a tenant on Ryshworth Avenue in Bingley, reports that a leak emerged at her residence on August 8, resulting in moisture accumulating beneath her living room floor.

The situation has led to her relocating to the upper level of the property.

She has described the current condition of her home as unsatisfactory.

According to Incommunities, the housing provider dispatched a plumber immediately following the initial report on August 8.

The organisation stated that the leak affecting the stop tap was subsequently repaired several weeks prior to recent developments.

Incommunities has indicated its willingness to process an insurance claim to address any damage sustained, though the company requires formal written documentation from Ms Speight before proceeding with the claim.

Mrs Speight’s primary concern centres on the flooring within her home.

She has communicated that the wooden floorboards are now showing signs of warping due to prolonged exposure to moisture beneath the surface.

She has emphasised the urgency of removing and replacing the affected flooring.

An official representing Incommunities acknowledged the distress the situation has caused the customer.

The spokesperson outlined that a plumber attended promptly when the issue was first reported on August 8, and the stop tap leak was repaired several weeks ago.

The housing provider has informed the customer that an insurance claim can be submitted for any resulting damage, but additional written information from her is necessary to advance the process.

The representative added that staff will continue to assist her through subsequent steps.

Incommunities operates as a not-for-profit housing association and registered social housing provider serving the Bradford area.

The organisation oversees more than 22,000 residential properties across Yorkshire, with the majority situated within the Bradford district.

Its portfolio consists of social and affordable housing stock, which it manages and maintains.

The association was created in 2003 following the transfer of council housing responsibilities from Bradford Council.

Beyond its landlord functions, Incommunities develops new housing, undertakes repair and improvement projects, and supports or funds community initiatives.

The organisation functions independently from Bradford Council.
