A York resident has undergone a remarkable physical transformation after abandoning her previous eating habits and embracing a new health regimen.
The 37-year-old managed to shed over 12 stone following her decision to begin a weight management programme involving weekly injections.
At her heaviest, she weighed 26 stone 8 pounds and typically consumed substantial evening meals followed by sugary snacks.
Despite having attempted numerous dietary approaches over the years, including carbohydrate restriction and calorie monitoring, she found herself trapped in a pattern of losing weight only to regain it, often exceeding her original starting point.
Following the experiences of family members who had achieved positive outcomes with the injections, she chose to begin the treatment in June 2025.
The prescription costs £275 every four weeks through a private healthcare arrangement.
She has recounted how her previous dietary intake centred heavily on carbohydrate and sugar-based foods.
Typical meals included cereals, doughnuts, confectionery, chocolate, and pizza.
She typically only ate during evening hours, consuming large portions before snacking on sweet items.
Despite not consuming them daily, she could comfortably finish half a dozen doughnuts in a single occasion.
Approximately £200 monthly had previously been allocated to food delivery services.
The individual had avoided weighing herself due to concerns about what the scales would reveal.
Upon finally stepping on the scales at the start of her programme, she discovered she was significantly heavier than anticipated, leaving her deeply troubled.
Although she displayed no existing conditions such as elevated blood pressure or diabetes, she recognised that such issues would likely emerge within a decade without intervention.
Alongside the medication, she adopted a structured approach focusing on protein consumption, hydration, and heightened awareness of her dietary choices.
She introduced regular physical activity, attending swimming sessions three times weekly and beginning a running programme.
Practical improvements followed, including the ability to cross her legs and tie her shoelaces independently.
Despite the medication curbing appetite, she maintained that considerable personal effort remained necessary.
The treatment does not automatically produce weight loss or resolve underlying psychological aspects of eating behaviour.
Self-confidence and body image require separate work.
She expressed frustration at reactions from others upon learning of her medication.
While acquaintances acknowledged her weight reduction, their tone shifted sceptically upon hearing about the injections, as though the achievement was somehow diminished.
Following her transformation, she now wears a size 14 dress at 13 stone 11 pounds and continues on a 10 milligram dosage with approximately two stone remaining before reaching her target.
She intends to evaluate the possibility of a maintenance dose once her goal has been attained.
Financial savings from eliminating frequent takeaway orders and snack purchases have accumulated to £4,000 over the year.
These funds are earmarked for a transatlantic trip with her mother and sister to commemorate her sibling’s 40th birthday, with destinations including Boston and Salem.
Dietary modifications extended across all daily meals.
Formerly skipping breakfast or consuming substantial bowls of sugary cereal on weekends, she now begins the day with a protein supplement.
Weekend lunches previously consisted of pastry-based products from high street bakeries, replaced by lean chicken salad accompanied by fruit.
Evening meals, previously featuring oversized pasta servings followed by sharing packets of confectionery and continuous snacking, have been substituted with lean meat and vegetable stir-fries using konjac noodles, concluding with a modest chocolate portion and fruit serving.
