A Bradford man has been found guilty of grave sexual crimes including several rapes and now faces a substantial prison term.

Aaron Purewal, aged 32, who currently has no permanent address but previously lived on Well Street in the vicinity of Little Germany, was convicted of ten charges by a jury on Monday during proceedings that concluded a trial.

The convictions encompassed five rape charges, two counts of assault by penetration, deliberate suffocation, deliberate strangulation, and one count of sexual assault.

The jury cleared him of four allegations: one rape charge, attempted rape, sexual assault, and common assault.

Deliberations by the jury extended for nine hours and twenty-three minutes.

Her Honour Judge Sophie Mckone scheduled the sentencing hearing for June 26 and addressed Purewal, stating: “You can expect a very long sentence.”

Purewal, who will be required to register as a sex offender, was taken into custody pending sentencing.
