A new contest is calling on local people to celebrate the Bradford district’s cherished independent shops.
The Telegraph & Argus has launched the ‘Best Independent Retailer 2026’ campaign to recognise outstanding enterprises across the area by inviting readers to put forward suggestions and vote for their favourite outlets.
Businesses can be put forward through an online voting website, with nominations being accepted until Sunday, April 26.

The ten businesses receiving the most nominations will be revealed on Monday, April 27.
The ultimate voting stage will take place through the printed T&A publication, with readers able to select their choices using voting coupons printed in the paper from Monday, May 4, through Saturday, May 16.
Independent businesses play a crucial role in their communities, offering varied products and bespoke service.
The goal is to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond to provide outstanding shopping experiences.
The competition is open to any independent shop operating within the Bradford district. Both establishments that have served customers for decades and newer ventures that have quickly built up a loyal following may receive nominations.
