More than 6,600 homes and businesses can now connect to full fibre broadband services, according to Openreach.

The telecommunications company announced that properties throughout Cross Hills and nearby localities have gained access to the network upgrade, which was made possible through a £1.9 million investment in infrastructure.

However, the firm noted that many residents continue using slower internet connections because they have not yet switched to the new service.

Kasam Hussain, Partnership Director for the North and Midlands area, explained that most of the region now has Full Fibre coverage, yet many householders and business owners have not finished moving over to the upgraded technology.

He said customers need to actively place an order with their chosen broadband supplier rather than expecting the change to happen by itself.

According to Hussain, the gains in both speed and reliability can be significant, especially for families with heavy internet usage or those operating businesses from their homes.

He added that the company wants to make certain every local resident comprehends what alternatives are available and the steps required to access them.

Full fibre broadband delivers quicker download speeds, improved consistency, and better performance when multiple devices are linked at the same time.

Hussain noted that Openreach stays committed to developing the network in a responsible manner.

He continued that through the company’s Let’s Reach Zero programme, efforts are underway to cut carbon emissions, use fewer resources, decrease waste, and safeguard natural habitats across all operational regions.
