A programme of guided tours will give visitors the opportunity to discover centuries of history at Bradford Cathedral.

The historic building will welcome guests during summer 2026 for an in-depth examination of its collection of rare objects and longstanding heritage.

The tours span 1,400 years of history, presenting the site’s art, architecture and collections, with several pieces normally kept from public view.

Maggie Myers, who serves as director of education and visitors at the cathedral, explained that nowhere else in Bradford offers the chance to study nearly 1,400 years of history while exploring a medieval structure containing Saxon fragments, Victorian and 20th-century additions, remarkable Morris and Company stained glass and numerous historic and modern features.

She added that anyone wishing to discover more about the building, its past and its treasures should take advantage of this opportunity.

The inaugural tours on Saturday, May 16 will examine the cathedral’s textile collection, showcasing ecclesiastical items seldom displayed to visitors.

Subsequent tours will cover the stained-glass windows, architectural development and additional artefacts.

A further textile-focused tour is planned for Saturday, August 22.

Guests may choose to attend single tours or book the complete series to develop a fuller appreciation of the cathedral’s narrative.
