Bradford Man Jailed 16.5 Years for Historic Sex Offences

A 48-year-old man from Keighley has received a prison sentence of sixteen-and-a-half years after being convicted of historical sexual offences, including rape.

Abdul Aziz Razzaque, residing on Victoria Road in Keighley, was found guilty of multiple offences following proceedings that took place last August.

The court determined him to be a dangerous offender.

His sibling, Abdul Haziz Razzaque, aged 47 and living on Spencer Street in Keighley, was also found guilty of distinct sexual offences during the same trial, despite being deemed unfit to stand trial.

A future sentencing date has been set for him.

Abdul Aziz Razzaque attended proceedings at Bradford Crown Court through a video connection from HMP Leeds.

The prosecution, led by Gerald Hendron, revealed that the criminal conduct extended back to the 1990s and involved several complainants.

Victims described experiencing intense emotions including rage, anger, trauma, pain, shame, guilt, feelings of worthlessness, irreparable harm, and suicide attempts in their courtroom statements.

One victim expressed: “My life has literally been hell.”

Another stated: “The impact of this has followed me every day.”

The court was informed that Razzaque had previously maintained good character.

Using the rape charge as the principal offence, Her Honour Judge Kirstie Watson imposed a sentence of 16 years and six months, with an additional 12-month extension on licence.

When evaluating the risk posed, Her Honour Judge Kirstie Watson classified Razzaque as a dangerous offender.

She remarked: “You continue to deny the offences.”

He is required to register as a sex offender indefinitely and will be subject to a permanent Sexual Harm Protection Order concerning children.

Razzaque showed no visible response upon receiving his sentence.

From the gallery, one of the victims called out “Thank you” to the judge.
