Rail services are experiencing interference this afternoon after a series of train cancellations and delays.

Routes traveling outbound from Leeds in the direction of Bradford Forster Square have been impacted.

Northern has provided an explanation for the issues.

What caused the train cancellations?

Because of a mechanical problem on a train positioned between Leeds and Kirkstall Forge, certain tracks are expected to stay closed for approximately another 60 minutes.

Customers using those specific lines have been notified to anticipate postponed and cancelled services, while trains operating into Leeds originating from Skipton, Ilkley and Bradford Forster Square remain unaffected directly but could still encounter unexpected short-notice delays.

Rail companies have informed travelers that traveling through Bradford Interchange continues to function as a workable alternative.

Alternative bus services in place

To help travelers during this period of disruption, substitute transportation has been organized along multiple routes:

Noon forty – Bus leaving Leeds, stopping at every station through to Shipley

One twenty-five – Bus leaving Shipley, stopping at every station through to Leeds

Two oh five – Bus leaving Ilkley, stopping at every station through to Leeds

One thirty – Bus leaving Skipton, stopping at every station through to Carlisle

Travelers should examine station notice boards for information regarding where replacement buses will pick up passengers.

Rail passengers are encouraged to allocate additional time for their trips and to review live travel information before beginning their journey.

A spokesperson commented: “Services at Leeds, operating toward Skipton, Ilkley, Bradford Forster Square, Carlisle are presently being disrupted because of a train fault. Services traveling toward Leeds originating from Skipton, Ilkley, Bradford Forster Square are NOT disrupted but will experience short-notice cancellations or delays.

Travelers may use Bradford Interchange as an alternative route.

To help travelers, the following substitute transport has been arranged: twelve forty departing Leeds, stopping at all stations to Shipley thirteen twenty-five departing Shipley, stopping at all stations to Leeds fourteen oh five departing Ilkley, stopping at all stations to Leeds thirteen thirty departing Skipton, stopping at all stations to Carlisle Passengers should check station information posters for bus pickup locations.
