Healthcare organisations working in the Bradford area are urging local people to examine their drinking patterns during Alcohol Awareness Week.
The initiative, taking place from July 6 to 12, highlights a complimentary mobile application called DrinkCoach, which provides access to as many as six individual coaching appointments designed to assist people in gaining insight into and controlling their alcohol intake.
Coordinated by Living Well and New Vision Bradford, the campaign adopts an individual focus under the slogan ‘Alcohol and Me.’
Councillor Jayne Margaret Morgan, who holds the healthy people portfolio at Bradford Council, stated that drinking can gradually become woven into daily routines without people always being conscious of it. She explained that it might be associated with unwinding after employment, coping with anxiety, social activities, or simply surviving a difficult week. She noted that Alcohol Awareness Week presents a chance for all those in the Bradford area to stop, consider and question how alcohol plays a role in their lives. She added that the campaign’s tagline ‘Alcohol and Me’ was selected to make that contemplation relevant to each person. She mentioned that by installing the DrinkCoach application, individuals can obtain private advice about their drinking patterns and useful assistance to support incremental, beneficial adjustments. She said that people living in the Bradford area can additionally reserve up to six cost-free forty-minute appointments with a dedicated DrinkCoach adviser, with times accessible throughout the day, evenings and weekends.
The DrinkCoach application enables users to monitor their drinking, establish targets and receive private coaching, with sessions obtainable during daytime, evening and weekend periods to accommodate varying timetables.
New Vision Bradford, the area’s support service for alcohol and drug-related issues, is observing the week with numerous drop-in events across the region.
Tuesday July 7 features appearances at Bradford Royal Infirmary between 1pm and 3pm and at Airedale Shopping Centre from 10am to 4pm. Wednesday July 8 brings an event at Broadway Shopping Centre from 10am to 4pm. Thursday July 9 includes activities at Tesco Superstore and Peel Centre, along with the Liver Buddies initiative at Odsal Stadium, all running from 10am to 4pm.
Skilled personnel will provide alcohol checks, recommendations and referrals to appropriate services at every gathering.
