A young person was assisted down from a foggy peak in Yorkshire after twisting his ankle close to the top.

Volunteers from a caving rescue group came to help the 17-year-old on Tuesday after officers contacted them for assistance.

A representative from the Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation stated that members of the team went to the location and moved the young man down to Chapel Le Dale, where his companions were able to take him for medical assessment.

They added that they hope he recovers quickly.

Earlier in the week, on Saturday July 4, the same organisation received a request from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist a 56-year-old walker who had fallen between Dean Moor Hill and Coomb Hill near Malham.

By the time rescuers reached the area, the injured walker and his group had already reached an ambulance that was waiting for them.
