A total of 52 Post Office locations are due to shut down as Morrisons, headquartered in Bradford, phases out numerous convenience outlets across the country.
The affected branches are situated within Morrisons Daily stores spanning England, Scotland, and Wales.
A significant number of these sites are located in the south of England.
This move comes after the retailer announced plans to shutter approximately 100 Morrisons Daily stores.
A spokesperson for Morrisons described the decision as one that was difficult yet essential.
These establishments formed part of Morrisons’ £190 million purchase of McColl’s two years ago.
The company indicated that these outlets had been generating losses for an extended period, with the situation deteriorating further due to substantial cost rises stemming from government policy changes.
Industry publication Better Retailing reports that the closures could bring the Post Office network dangerously close to falling beneath the Government’s mandated threshold of 11,500 branches.
