Police have reached out to Jewish residents in West Yorkshire after the London double stabbing was officially categorised as terrorism.
Community leaders have demanded tougher action against antisemitic incidents following the assault in the capital at around 11:15am on Wednesday.
A 76-year-old and a 34-year-old continue to receive hospital treatment in a stable condition after the incident on Highfield Avenue in Golders Green, north London.
A man aged 45 was detained by officers on suspicion of attempted murder.
Statement from West Yorkshire Police
Speaking on Wednesday, Assistant Chief Constable Damien Miller, who leads on Local Policing for the force, said the force recognised the concern and distress the Golders Green stabbing in London that day would generate among the Jewish community, and expressed sympathy for all those affected.
He stated that the force maintained longstanding connections with the local Jewish community and would continue working alongside representatives and partners, such as the Community Security Trust, to provide support and reassurance.
He added that neighbourhood policing teams would be stepping up their patrol schedules and visible presence to offer greater comfort to the community.
