Free winter flu and Covid-19 vaccinations have commenced across West Yorkshire.
The NHS seasonal programme aims to safeguard those most at risk from illness during the colder period.
Dr James Thomas, a GP and clinical lead for the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, advised that respiratory infections spread readily when indoor contact increases during winter.
Vaccination substantially lowers the chance of severe disease requiring hospital admission while also defending neighbours, family members and colleagues who face heightened vulnerability.
Those meeting the criteria were urged to secure appointments promptly.
The process takes only a short time and delivers essential defence throughout the winter season.
Flu protection is accessible to individuals aged 65 and above, people managing specified chronic medical conditions, care home residents, unpaid carers, and residents sharing households with immunocompromised persons.
Covid-19 vaccination extends to older adult care home occupants, adults who have reached their 75th birthday alongside those who will do so before the end of January 2027, and immunosuppressed people from six months through to 74 years of age.
Booking is possible via the NHS application, the online scheduling platform, or by telephoning 119.
