Emergency services responded to a road traffic collision on Harrogate Road in Bradford on Friday morning.
The incident involved a car and a scooter and occurred shortly before noon.
West Yorkshire Police officers arrived at the scene after receiving notification from the ambulance service at 11.48am.
The scooter rider, a man aged 30, sustained head injuries and required hospital treatment.
Harrogate Road remained closed to traffic for several hours between the junctions with Leeds Road and Norman Avenue while emergency services carried out their work at the scene.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances, a team leader and a doctor following an emergency call at 11.39am.
The injured man was subsequently transported to Leeds General Infirmary for further medical care.
