A serving officer with West Yorkshire Police has been found not guilty of multiple historical sexual offence charges against a child following proceedings at Leeds Crown Court.
PC Marcus Newbold, aged 30, was cleared of all charges brought against him.
The charges included rape of a girl under the age of 13, sexual assault by penetration of a girl under 13, four charges of sexual touching involving a girl under 13, and two charges of causing or encouraging a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The criminal allegations were first reported to officers in September 2022.
At that time, Newbold was serving with the Kirklees district.
His entry into West Yorkshire Police service occurred in January 2021.
Throughout the police investigation and subsequent Crown Court trial, Newbold was suspended from duty.
Following the jury’s verdicts, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the case would now be examined in light of the court outcome.
