Multiple road closures planned in Bradford from next week

Published on

Multiple roads across the Bradford area will be subject to temporary traffic restrictions over the coming weeks due to essential maintenance and improvement projects.

Allerton Lane will become inaccessible to general traffic between Old Road and Beck Bridge Lane.

The prohibition, scheduled to commence on October 5 at 8am, has been implemented to facilitate street lighting upgrades.

Completion is anticipated by October 23 at 6pm, though local authorities have indicated the works could continue for a maximum of 18 months if circumstances require.

Plant and maintenance vehicles associated with the scheme may pass through the closed section, while those travelling on foot will retain access throughout.

Motorists seeking alternative passages should consider routes incorporating Cote Lane, Saffron Drive, Thornton Road, and School Green.

Bell Dean Road, Allerton Road, and additional stretches of Old Road have also been suggested as bypass options.

Water infrastructure maintenance will necessitate a closure on Blamires Place on October 8 and 9.

The restriction will apply to the carriageway segment situated between Great Horton Road and Back Great Horton Road South.

Traffic will be prohibited from 7pm on October 8 until 6am the following morning, with provision for maintenance vehicles and continuous pedestrian access.

The council has reserved the right to prolong this arrangement for up to 18 months.

Diversionary options include Blamires Street, Hollybank Road, and Great Horton Road, alongside the unaffected portion of Blamires Place.

Further water-related works will impact Lidget Place from October 7.

The affected section spans from the vicinity of number 65 to the area near number 79.

Access restrictions commence at 8am on October 7 and conclude at 6pm on October 9.

Vehicles engaged in the maintenance operation may proceed through, while foot traffic will not be impeded.

Drivers may utilise Beckside Road and Lidget Terrace as alternative routes, alongside the open portion of Lidget Place.

Thornton will experience a brief shutdown on Hill Top Road due to telecommunications infrastructure work.

From the intersection with West Lane through to Long Row, the highway will be closed between 8am on September 28 and 5pm on October 2.

Diversion signs will direct motorists via West Lane, Lower Heights Road, Rock Lane, and Half Acre Road.

Back Heights Road forms part of the suggested bypass.

Caroline Street faces extended restrictions for gas network improvements.

Commencing September 28 at 8am, the closure extends until November 13 at 5pm.

Maintenance equipment and personnel may traverse the segment, with pedestrian pathways remaining available.

Traffic can detour via Victoria Road, Bingley Road, and Dallam Avenue, using Saltaire Road and Hirst Lane as connecting routes alongside the unaffected portion of Caroline Street.

Gresham Avenue will undergo water supply improvements between September 28 and October 2.

The closure operates from 7am until 7pm daily throughout this period.

Maintenance vehicles receive exemption, and pedestrian passage remains possible.

No specific alternative routes have been publicised for this particular restriction.
