Hermano Bakery crowned Bradford’s best by Telegraph & Argus

Hermano Bakery on Great Horton Road has secured the title of Bradford’s premier bakery following the Telegraph & Argus competition, with the business receiving substantial backing from local residents.

Safian Mahmood, who established the company just two years ago, admitted he had not anticipated the outcome, noting that several competitors had operated far longer in the industry.

The enterprise began by providing gateaux to the family’s dessert outlet before transitioning into a wholesale supplier that now serves establishments throughout the United Kingdom.

The recipes and methods employed at the bakery trace their origins to techniques taught by Mr Mahmood’s mother.

Currently, the operation provides products to coffee shops, confectionery retailers, dining establishments and retail chains, with distribution extending to the capital, Wales and Scotland.

The company recently broadened its presence beyond Bradford by launching a retail location in Blackburn, with further expansion into Wales reportedly under consideration.

Mr Mahmood indicated that the accolade has reinforced his commitment to developing the enterprise.

He stated that the business intends to offer customers greater insight into daily operations and the realities of managing a bakery.

The recognition arrives at a significant juncture for the company as it continues to grow beyond its West Yorkshire origins.

The proprietor expressed confidence that the award would assist in attracting new clientele and facilitating additional expansion.

He noted that unfamiliarity often presents challenges for newer businesses, but achievements of this nature help establish credibility with potential customers.

Despite the accomplishment, Mr Mahmood emphasised that quality remained the priority rather than pursuing high-volume production.

The objective has consistently centred on establishing a bakery renowned for excellence rather than concentrating on any single product.

He concluded by expressing appreciation to all those who cast their votes in support of the establishment.
