Keighley Rugby League Club’s two principal owners have received official recognition from the Ukrainian governing body for their work supporting the sport in the war-affected nation.
Ryan O’Neill and Kaue Garcia have been named as honorary members alongside their appointment as trustees of the national federation.
Their certificates of recognition were formally endorsed by Artur Martyrosian, president of Ukraine RL.
The pair’s dedication acknowledged the two decades of rugby league activity in Ukraine, citing their personal efforts to grow the sport within the country.
The accolade was awarded in recognition of their sustained support during a challenging period.
Last year, the West Yorkshire club arranged the production of complimentary playing kits for Ukraine’s senior and youth international sides.
The co-owners subsequently travelled to Kyiv to personally deliver the equipment.
Following this, Garcia and O’Neill coordinated arrangements for a contingent of young Ukrainian rugby league players to visit England.
The group attended a competitive fixture at Cougar Park this April, where the hosts were defeated 42 points to 30 by Hunslet.
