Bingley Grammar School will remain closed to pupils on its scheduled first day of the academic year following the identification of significant operational issues at the site.
The institution, situated on Keighley Road in Bingley, announced the closure on September 2 after encountering problems affecting essential services throughout the premises.
Headteacher Luke Weston confirmed that electrical faults had been discovered, rendering the telephone system inoperative and eliminating internet connectivity across the campus.
The combination of technical failures was deemed to present both safeguarding and health and safety concerns, prompting the decision to shut the school for the day.
All students were to be absent from the premises while engineers worked to resolve the faults.
According to communications distributed to parents and guardians, the school is scheduled to resume normal operations on September 3.
Arrangements that were originally planned for Wednesday will instead take place on Thursday.
Pupils in Years 8 through 11 have been instructed to attend an extended tutor session between 8:30am and 10:00am on the reopening day to collect their timetables and receive relevant information.
Students entering Year 7 have been advised to proceed to the designated N6 area upon their arrival at 8:30am when the school reopens.
The headteacher expressed regret for the late notification, explaining that efforts had been ongoing to address the technical difficulties before the decision to close was made.
Parents and carers were thanked in advance for their understanding and cooperation during the disruption to the start of term.
