A distance of 84 miles has been covered by a determined group of walkers, generating approximately £2,890 for a charity dedicated to offering vulnerable children a temporary escape from difficult circumstances.
Liam Burton, who runs the roofing business Roof Spec and serves as a patron of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, tackled the famous Hadrian’s Wall path alongside his brother Gareth, a collection of companions, and David Monaghan, who provided driving support throughout the endeavour.
The walkers covered the entire Hadrian’s Wall route, beginning at Bowness-on-Solway and concluding at Wallsend, between August 27 and 29.
The participants navigated demanding landscape and managed an average of 28 miles each day.
Speaking about the motivation behind the challenge, Burton noted that he understands as a parent how vital opportunities for families to spend time together can be, which formed the basis of his dedication to supporting The Principle Trust and undertaking the expedition.
The funds collected will support The Principle Trust in its mission to deliver complimentary week-long breaks for children throughout Yorkshire who encounter significant difficulties, such as traumatic experiences, health conditions, and financial hardship.
The organisation maintains eight properties offering respite accommodation across the locations of Blackpool, Filey, and Windermere.
