Children at a Bradford primary school participated in a careers showcase aimed at expanding their understanding of professional life.
Atlas Community Primary School in Manningham hosted dozens of working professionals for an initiative connecting classroom learning with real-world employment.
The school partnered with educational organisation Own Futures to coordinate the event.
Representatives from emergency services, animal welfare charities, construction firms, digital infrastructure companies, and the rail industry met with students from Reception through Year 6.
Students took part in practical activities, including a workshop where they built miniature playgrounds from foam materials, providing insight into planning and design processes.
The event formed part of a broader programme at the school to develop skills and raise aspirations among students.
Year 6 pupils are currently developing journalistic expertise through the Literacy Kicks scheme, working with professional reporter Gareth Walker to build writing and reporting abilities.
This initiative complements the careers showcase as part of the school’s commitment to broadening students’ exposure to diverse professional pathways.
Atlas Community Primary operates within the Priestley Academy Trust, a network of six educational institutions in the Manningham area.
The trust delivers the Priestley Promise, comprising forty enrichment experiences.
One of four key strategic priorities for the network is Careers and Aspirations, which includes financial literacy sessions and visits to higher education institutions.
