Bradford Council has identified properties across Ilkley, Addingham, and Guiseley for potential divestment as part of an extensive asset disposal strategy.
The local authority is proceeding with selling numerous holdings including land parcels, structures, and parking facilities.
This initiative follows the 2024 Government commitment to provide extraordinary financial assistance aimed at preventing the council from declaring insolvency.
The exceptional funding package enables the council to allocate proceeds from property sales toward operational expenditure, bypassing standard local government finance restrictions that typically mandate such funds be directed toward capital investments.
Internal documentation shows that Stephen Mair, serving as Interim Strategic Director of Corporate Resources and Section 151 Officer, has sanctioned the disposal of several additional holdings.
Specific financial terms have not been disclosed at this stage.
Among the assets designated for marketing is a commercial property situated on South Hawksworth Street in Ilkley.
Dating from the Victorian era, this structure forms an integral component of the town’s heritage arcade.
The premises consist of a two-storey stone construction featuring timber sash windows surrounding an enclosed central passage.
The building offers approximately 5,931 square feet of floor space.
While originally constructed to accommodate eight distinct retail establishments, the space currently functions as a unified occupancy.
The current occupier, operating under the name Outside the Box, utilizes the premises for café operations, event hosting, and office accommodation.
The council holds the freehold interest subject to a 125-year lease agreement commencing in June 1986.
Another property included in the disposal programme is a previously developed site positioned at the intersection of Church Street and Main Street in Addingham.
Spanning 0.56 acres, this brownfield location formerly served Highway Services as a storage facility for construction materials.
Situated at a prominent corner location adjacent to residential areas and rural land, the parcel has been designated in the Addingham Neighbourhood Plan as a preferred location for residential construction and deemed appropriate for developing up to eight dwellings.
A third holding authorized for disposal comprises Hawkstone Farm together with Hawkstone Wood, located on Hollins Lane in Guiseley.
This asset incorporates a Grade II Listed principal residence along with linked agricultural buildings situated on approximately 58 acres (23.47 hectares) of land predominantly utilized for dairy cattle grazing.
The holding operates under a lease arrangement established in 1971 and falls within the provisions of the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986.
Elected members have until Friday, October 2, to refer any of the proposed sales for additional examination before transaction proceedings advance.
