A technology firm has inaugurated an enlarged facility in West Yorkshire after securing substantial investment.
EGO Technology marked the completion of its expanded Bradford site on September 25, with the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Sir Chris Herd, presiding over the official ceremony.
The business intends to recruit 36 additional staff members during the coming two years, growing its existing workforce of 24 workers.
Ian Austin, group chief executive at the company, outlined the organisation’s vision for the site.
He noted that Bradford’s heritage was shaped by forward-thinking individuals who established opportunities for lasting progress.
He added that the firm aimed to honour that tradition through its commitment to the city.
The executive explained that the investment extended beyond expanding processing capabilities, encompassing job creation, skills development, community engagement and infrastructure to retain technology and valuable materials within the region.
He expressed the ambition to establish an operation that would benefit Bradford for years to come.
The facility will provide positions in technical, processing, engineering, environmental and logistics departments, encompassing roles such as processing technicians, information technology specialists, device technicians, and repair and refurbishment engineers.
The site will additionally deliver training programmes covering responsible waste electrical and electronic equipment handling, data protection, material recovery, testing procedures and equipment restoration.
Monthly throughput currently stands at approximately 170 to 190 tonnes of discarded equipment, with projections indicating annual capacity should increase to between 250 and 380 tonnes.
The Bradford establishment forms part of EGO Technology’s lifecycle management strategy for retired business technology, operating in conjunction with the Technology Recovery Centre located in Burton upon Trent.
Both facilities serve clients requiring secure information technology asset disposal, data handling services, equipment refurbishment and material recovery solutions.
Councillor Sir Chris Herd commented on the significance of the investment, expressing satisfaction at officially opening the facility and witnessing the commitment being made to Bradford.
He emphasised the particular value of seeing a company invest not only in advanced technology and sustainable methods but also in local employment, skill development and opportunities for residents across the district.
He conveyed best wishes to the team as operations continue to expand in the city.
The organisation has additionally established collaboration with the Department for Work and Pensions to facilitate employment routes for young people locally.
This initiative forms part of broader social value activities, including the extension of training workshops within correctional facilities to equip individuals with practical abilities and employability confidence.
