A 26-year-old man has received a suspended custodial sentence after carrying out multiple targeted thefts at a parcel delivery company’s facility in York.
Hassan Ahmed targeted DPD on five separate occasions, stealing mobile phone shipments from the company’s Northminster depot in York.
York magistrates court determined the offences warranted a prison term given their pre-meditated nature and substantial value.
The court imposed a 24-week sentence, suspended for 12 months, along with a compensation order requiring payment of £7,882.
Ahmed, whose address was listed as Canterbury Avenue in Bradford, entered guilty pleas to the offences.
On March 25, he unlawfully entered the DPD Northminster depot and removed mobile phones valued at £2,683.
He further admitted to four additional thefts of mobile phones from the same depot on May 29, June 2, June 3 and June 4.
