A city centre hotel in Bradford is set to cease operations permanently.
The Holiday Inn Express Bradford City Centre announced its closure date as September 28, 2026, according to correspondence obtained by this publication.
Multiple individuals reached out expressing worry after learning of the impending shutdown, with claims that employees received only minimal advance notification.
Efforts to confirm the situation included attempts to reserve accommodations through the hotel’s website and telephone services for October reservations.
Neither method proved successful.
A letter addressed to a guest and apparently bearing the signature of the hotel manager verified the permanent closure.
The correspondence stated that trading would cease on the specified date.
During the transitional phase, limited operations would continue, though certain amenities and services might be restricted or unavailable.
Staff members committed to reducing inconvenience and addressing queries about available offerings during this period.
Guests with bookings extending past the closure date were informed that the property could no longer accommodate them.
The letter expressed gratitude for customer support throughout the years.
The franchise holder, InterContinental Hotels Group, responded to enquiries by confirming that the contract for the Holiday Inn Express Bradford City Centre would terminate on September 28, 2026, removing the establishment from their portfolio.
In late 2002, reporting indicated that a £5 million Express by Holiday Inn property would open the following year at the Vicar Lane Leisure Exchange.
Projections at the time suggested the development would stimulate tourism and attract visitors to the leisure facilities and other significant local landmarks.
The departure of this establishment would represent a loss for the city.
According to accommodation booking platforms, the property enjoyed a favourable position in the centre of Bradford, situated across from Bradford Interchange, providing rail and bus transport links throughout the wider area.
Leeds Bradford Airport could be reached within approximately twenty minutes by car, while vehicle owners had access to parking facilities at the adjacent multi-storey car park.
Cultural venues located in the vicinity included the National Science and Media Museum, the traditional Alhambra Theatre and retail options at a nearby shopping centre.
Visitors could also explore the UNESCO-designated Saltaire Village, discover the region’s industrial history at the Bradford Industrial Museum, or spend time in City Park, notable for its expansive water feature and fountains.
Business travellers and leisure guests were accommodated in rooms equipped with wireless internet access, television and window treatments designed to block light.
Meeting spaces suitable for corporate gatherings and modest functions were available on the premises.
A morning meal service was provided without charge.
