A business originating in Bradford is increasing its footprint in the city with proposals for a second facility at Weaverthorpe Retail Park.

Strike Padel has announced intentions to establish a new venue on Tong Street, building upon the recent enlargement of its Beckside Business Park location from five to 12 courts.

The enterprise, established by healthcare workers from the local area, has stated that the new facility will enable the rapidly growing sport to reach additional communities throughout the district.

Managing director Fahad Qureshi expressed pride in being a brand rooted in Bradford, founded by individuals committed to investing in the city.

He noted that obtaining planning permission for the second Strike Padel location at Weaverthorpe Retail Park marked another significant achievement for the company.

According to him, the backing received from Bradford residents since the opening of the initial venue has been remarkable, and this expansion directly reflects that encouragement.

The announcement signifies another step forward for the Bradford-based business, which has quickly expanded its presence in the city as participation in padel continues to increase across the country.

Strike Padel anticipates that the new Tong Street venue will operate around the clock throughout the week, offering players increased flexibility while helping introduce the sport to more individuals.

Mr Qureshi indicated that the company’s emphasis has consistently been on ensuring padel remains accessible to local communities.

He noted that more than 160 complimentary padel sessions had been provided, with local schools permitted to use the courts at no cost.

The company takes pride in having pioneered accessibility and inclusivity in padel within Bradford.

According to the business, thousands of individuals have been introduced to padel through its programmes over the past twelve months.

Alongside complimentary introductory sessions, the community initiative encompasses women-only gatherings, youth coaching, social sessions for those aged over 50, and opportunities for educational institutions, charitable organisations and community groups to utilise its facilities.

The additional venue is expected to broaden those outreach efforts and expand capacity as demand for court time persists in growing.

Mr Qureshi stated that the ambition for the Weaverthorpe site involves operating continuously throughout the day and night, providing members with greater scheduling options while generating additional possibilities for schools, young people, families and community organisations to participate.

While specifics regarding the facility, including its launch date and membership offerings, remain undisclosed, the company has indicated that the development forms part of broader expansion intentions while maintaining its commitment to Bradford.

Mr Qureshi stated that Bradford serves as the company’s home, the location where Strike Padel was conceived, where its story commenced and where it will persist in investing, generating employment and delivering excellent sporting opportunities for local residents.
