A 50-year-old man has been charged with six counts of causing death by dangerous driving following a collision on Barnsley Road in the Wakefield district.
Christopher Cockell, whose address is given as Gresford Close in Woolley Grange, faces allegations relating to the incident which occurred on July 21, 2024, between Staincross and Newmillerdam.
The collision resulted in the deaths of six individuals: Shane Roller, aged 33; Shannen Morgan, aged 30; Rubie Morgan-Roller, aged nine; Lillie Morgan-Roller, aged four; Christopher Barton, aged 56; and Janine Barton, aged 48.
The Major Collision Enquiry Team conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash on Barnsley Road.
Cockell is scheduled to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on October 28 to face the charges.
