Norma Hall, who served as headteacher at Eldwick First School, has passed away at the age of 89.
The educator received an MBE in recognition of her contribution to education.
Hall originated from Blackpool where she spent her childhood.
At Beckett Park teacher training college, she encountered her future husband Les.
The couple shared 68 years of marriage, with 66 of those years spent residing in Baildon.
During that period, Hall instructed biology and mathematics at West Lane Secondary School.
Following reorganisation of schools in Bradford, she transitioned into early years education, instructing pupils at Baildon C of E and Nessfield in Keighley.
Her appointment as headteacher at Eldwick First School followed, a position she maintained for 16 years.
Throughout her career, she advocated for progressive, child-centred approaches to learning.
Her dedication to education was formally recognised with an MBE.
Beyond her professional achievements, Hall demonstrated artistic talent across multiple mediums.
Her creative output encompassed watercolour, pastel, pencil, clay and embroidery works.
During her retirement, she contributed to the Northern Horticultural Society’s archive organisation at Harlow Carr, prior to its integration into the RHS.
Hall is survived by her husband Les Hall, daughter Karen Jones and son-in-law Philip Jones, along with granddaughters Hannah and Eliza and their husbands Nico and Alexander.
Her great grandchildren include Elsie, Rupert, Sebastian, Tristan and Caspar.
According to her daughter Karen Jones, Hall’s compassion, generosity and lively wit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Arrangements for a celebration of her life will be made at a later date.
