Steph Moon has featured in Yorkshire Life magazine for several decades.
The publication’s archives include images of the chef from 2011 and 2015, capturing discussions about pairing beer with food and the relative merits of apple pie compared to apple crumble.
Moon’s extensive background in Yorkshire’s culinary scene and her established relationship with the magazine positioned her as the natural choice to design the menu for The Great Yorkshire Feast, scheduled to take place at Fodder in Harrogate on September 25.
The Box Tree in Ilkley, Yorkshire, and its association with Marco Pierre White received coverage in the magazine in 2012.
Moon credits the renowned chef as a significant influence and visionary who transformed perceptions of cooking throughout Yorkshire and the broader United Kingdom.
The chef describes contentment in her local area, particularly when walking her dog and appreciating her surroundings.
She notes that while an extensive journey across Europe lasting three months, followed by transportation of her vehicle from Liverpool to Nova Scotia and an eight-and-a-half-month expedition through Canada, the United States and Alaska proved spectacular, her preferred environment remains the Yorkshire countryside.
The magazine has featured Moon’s culinary work over the years, including coverage of a grouse dish she prepared during her tenure as head chef at Coniston Hotel.
Following that position, Moon joined Rudding Park as head chef of the Clocktower establishment.
The venue hosted a magazine-sponsored lunch, among her initial significant events in that role.
The occasion featured canapés served on the lawn, with lunch comprising tomato assiette, half a lobster salad for the main course and pink champagne ice cream fruit tuille baskets for dessert.
In 2004, Moon received the Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year accolade while serving as executive chef at Rudding Park.
Moon expressed enthusiasm about her upcoming participation in the magazine’s 80th anniversary commemoration.
