Young people are to be given the chance to discover career paths within the fashion and textile sectors.
The initiative forms part of Sustainable Fashion Week 2026 and will be staged at Victoria Hall in Shipley on Tuesday, September 29.
The programme is directed at pupils in the later stages of Key Stage 3 and throughout Key Stage 4.
SkillsHouse, which serves as Bradford Council’s service for education, employment and careers, is coordinating the venture in conjunction with Shipley College.
The occasion will honour Bradford’s extensive textile legacy while examining contemporary breakthroughs, creative output, and environmentally responsible approaches that define the sector today.
Participants will engage with employers, trainers and specialists through practical sessions and display areas.
Seminar content will address subjects including eco-friendly materials, fashion technology, material reuse, plant-based colouring agents and apparel construction.
Contributing organisations comprise Sunny Bank Mills, the Society of Dyers and Colourists, Bradford Museums and Galleries, The Salvation Army, IK Collections and Dwilts Clothing.
The gathering will also examine garments produced for King Charles III and other members of the Royal Family.
Attendees will investigate the scientific processes involved in colouring textiles and how the fashion and clothing industries are transitioning towards greener, cyclical systems.
Cllr Andrew Judson, who holds the portfolio for economy, regeneration and planning at Bradford Council, commented that the district’s reputation for textiles spans internationally and remains significant to present-day economic activity.
He noted that the occasion presents an excellent opening for young individuals to investigate the diverse roles accessible in fashion, textiles, design and production, alongside understanding sector responses to sustainability concerns.
He added that uniting businesses, educational institutions and professionals allows young people to comprehend available local prospects and the competencies they may require.
The Shipley gathering constitutes one element within a wider series of activities programmed for Sustainable Fashion Week, encompassing workshops in schools, professional presentations, facility tours, displays and neighbourhood events throughout the district.
