Bradford Council is encouraging local residents and businesses to discover more about electric vehicles and environmentally friendly transportation options.
The Plug In Bradford District initiative will be held on Friday, September 18, at Centenary Square between 9.45am and 4pm.
The occasion is being arranged in collaboration with Let’s Experience Electric and seeks to raise awareness about the shift towards electric vehicles by displaying current electric car models, charging equipment, and green transport alternatives.
According to a representative for Bradford Council, the aim is to consult with community members and enterprises regarding recent developments in electric vehicle technology, strategies for expanding charging facilities, and guidance on available financial incentives to help people make appropriate choices based on their individual circumstances and budgets.
The representative stated that for those considering their next car, this complimentary event, supported by Let’s Experience Electric, offers a useful chance to examine the expanding selection of electric vehicles currently on the market and to discuss ownership considerations directly with specialists in the field.
Visitors will have the opportunity to inspect various electric vehicles, observe charging equipment in operation, and receive information about existing electric vehicle programmes backed by Bradford Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
These initiatives encompass the establishment of publicly accessible charging stations and the procurement and deployment of electric buses across the local public transport system.
Members of the public can also view LNER Bradford Beryl electric bicycles.
Separate sessions designed specifically for businesses operating within the Bradford district will take place at City Hall.
These workshops will address topics such as reducing carbon emissions from company vehicle fleets, planning for necessary infrastructure, and available government assistance programmes.
Industry experts from Cenex, Northern Powergrid, and the Energy Saving Trust will deliver presentations.
An exhibition zone will feature businesses specialising in electric vehicle infrastructure, including providers and operators of charging equipment.
Representatives from the Energy Saving Trust will present information about funding opportunities available through the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles.
Cenex will explain the process of converting fleets and depots to electric power.
Northern Powergrid will cover updates to the regional electricity network and revised procedures for new connections.
Admission to the event is complimentary and all members of the public are welcome to attend, with advance registration available via the council’s website.
