Morrisons has posted its most significant sales increase in over twelve months.
The retailer headquartered in Bradford announced a 3.2 percent improvement in group like-for-like sales during the thirteen-week period ending July 26, when measured against the equivalent timeframe twelve months prior.
Quarterly revenue totalled £4.1 billion for the period.
Rami Baitieh commented that the improved sales trajectory resulted from widespread advancement across multiple divisions.
Performance across the supermarket estate, digital operations, convenience format shops, pharmacy services and Myton manufacturing division all contributed positively to results, highlighting progress made with the company’s renewal and modernisation objectives.
The chief executive expressed satisfaction with the third quarter outcome.
The combination of enhanced comparable-store sales, reduced pricing and increased purchase volumes, alongside gains in market share, demonstrated that the strategic approach was producing tangible results and that the business remained aligned with its planned objectives.
Executives attributed the sales acceleration partly to elevated temperatures during the quarter and increased consumer purchasing driven by the football World Cup tournament.
