The Great British Bake Off is introducing a new format element that will see viewers propose challenges for contestants to tackle.
Earlier this year, Prue Leith announced her departure from the programme, with Nigella Lawson confirmed as her replacement on the judging panel.
Paul Hollywood will remain in his position as judge.
Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding are also continuing in their hosting roles.
The companion programme formerly titled Extra Slice has been relaunched under a new name, Second Helpings, and will feature Judi Love and Jon Richardson as its presenting duo.
Under the new Audience Choice Week format, audience members will be invited to submit challenge suggestions for the bakers.
These proposals may cover signature bakes, technical challenges, showstopper creations, or a combination of all three categories.
The Bake Off production team and judging panel have collaborated on developing the submitted ideas.
Among the concepts originating from viewer suggestions is a friends and family challenge.
This particular addition will permit contestants to welcome relatives and companions into the celebrated tent to assist them during their bakes.
At the programme’s press launch, Paul Hollywood noted that this marked the inaugural instance of such an approach being implemented.
He observed that the dynamic within the tent underwent a notable transformation as a result.
Noel Fielding characterised the atmosphere as tumultuous, with family members becoming deeply involved and occasionally clashing during the process.
