The Chase is facing the end of one of its spin-off ventures after a single season, according to media reports.
The programme made its debut on ITV in June 2009 and has now aired for more than 17 years, establishing itself as a staple of British daytime and prime-time television.
Bradley Walsh serves as the main presenter of the quiz format, while several well-known personalities have featured as the opposing Chasers.
Anne Hegerty operates under the nickname The Governess, Mark Labbett is known as The Beast, and Paul Sinha appears as The Sinnerman.
Production on the 19th series of the parent programme concluded in April, with ITV confirming that filming would not resume until 2027.
During the interval, a companion programme was introduced to fill the scheduling gap.
The new format, titled The Chase Around The World, saw competitors team up to solve puzzles and locate Walsh and the Chasers, with prize money of £100,000 available.
The inaugural episode broadcast on 19 July, with the six-part run concluding on 20 August.
All episodes remain accessible on the ITVX streaming platform.
Sources cited by the Daily Mail indicate that the broadcaster has decided against commissioning further episodes.
According to those familiar with the situation, the original format succeeded through its straightforward studio quiz concept, which had remained popular for nearly 18 years.
A companion edition called Beat The Chasers reportedly worked effectively because it offered participants the opportunity to face all six Chasers simultaneously, generating additional interaction between contestants, the Chasers and Walsh.
The latest spin-off was described by sources as having significantly underperformed.
Walsh was said to have been limited primarily to voiceover duties, while the Chasers, who maintain substantial viewer popularity, received minimal screen time.
The concept was compared to adapting the Chase format to resemble a travel-based competition programme.
Behind-the-scenes sources indicated disappointment with the outcome and noted that a decision had already been made that no additional series would proceed.
ITV has yet to make an official announcement regarding the programme’s future.
A spokesperson indicated that, given the series had only completed its linear broadcast a fortnight earlier, conversations about potential renewal were still in preliminary stages.
