Law enforcement officers in Bradford are intensifying their response to shoplifting and anti-social conduct affecting commercial areas along Valley Road.
The neighbourhood policing unit covering Bolton and Undercliffe has announced a series of measures designed to address persistent problems at retail locations that have generated repeated complaints from businesses and the public.
Visible patrol activity will be increased at stores experiencing ongoing incidents of disorder and criminal behaviour.
Resources will be concentrated on specific locations identified as frequent sites of offending.
Operational activity will be guided by intelligence gathering to target those individuals responsible for repeated theft offences.
Officers will coordinate with retail businesses, security personnel and surveillance operators to recognise suspected offenders and compile evidence to support enforcement action.
Bradford Council will participate alongside other partner organisations in this coordinated approach.
The initiative includes planned operations throughout the designated priority period with the aim of reducing reoffending and creating safer conditions for consumers, retail employees and commercial enterprises.
Business owners are being encouraged to log incidents promptly, safeguard any available evidence and take advantage of crime reduction resources offered by the authorities.
Information and guidance will be communicated to local residents and commercial operators via Community Alert notifications and through participation in neighbourhood consultation events.
