A Bradford establishment that has operated for more than half a century has secured the Uber Eats regional prize for Yorkshire and the North East.

Shimlas, situated on Great Horton Road, was established in the early 1970s by the late Haji Allah Ditta.

The recognition was granted in acknowledgment of the establishment’s culinary offerings, service standards and enduring standing throughout the area.

Nasir Uddin, the regional manager at Shimlas, stated that the honour represented a significant source of pride for the enterprise and demonstrated the backing received from patrons across multiple generations.

The award signified a tremendous privilege for the team and reflected the commitment and allegiance of their customer base.

It served as encouragement for all staff members and drove them to maintain elevated standards.

Chicken donner has emerged as one of the establishment’s most popular offerings.

Spanning over fifty years of family heritage The business was launched by its founder following his arrival from Pakistan, with the ambition of creating improved opportunities for his family.

What started as a modest enterprise has developed into one of Bradford’s most recognisable dining brands, serving families across several generations while remaining under family ownership.

The menu draws influence from the culinary customs of Kashmir, Punjab and the North-West Frontier region, with numerous recipes inherited from previous generations.

Currently, family members representing the third generation are contributing to the business’s direction while honouring the customs upon which the establishment was founded.

The award held profound significance for the entire Shimlas family.

The enterprise had been serving the local community for over 55 years and had been transmitted through successive generations within the family.

This acknowledgment testified to the diligence, commitment and enthusiasm of every individual associated with the business.

The establishment’s sustained presence, consistent standards and dedication to excellence had differentiated it from competitors.

Adaptations had been made to align with contemporary demands while preserving core traditions.

Local residents had played a pivotal part in the enterprise’s progression.

The establishment had fostered enduring connections with customers, serving various members of the same families over extended periods.

The community had remained central to the business throughout its existence.

The team felt fortunate to serve families spanning multiple generations, along with devoted regulars and new visitors who rapidly became part of the broader Shimlas community.

The focus extended beyond merely providing meals, encompassing the development of enduring relationships and offering a venue that customers felt confident recommending.

Despite having obtained regional acknowledgement, the enterprise expressed no intention of becoming complacent.

The recognition provided impetus to persist in advancing the business while adhering to the principles that had been established over five decades previously.

The third generation would persist in creating innovative dishes, influencing the menu and modernising the overall experience, while remaining faithful to the values and customs that had shaped the establishment.

Emphasis would consistently be placed on excellence rather than profit, delivering memorable taste, maintaining consistent quality and offering customers something they valued returning to.
