A landmark television documentary project is concluding its extraordinary journey later this month with the broadcast of 70 Up.
The two-part finale will air on September 15 and 22, bringing the acclaimed Up documentary series to its completion.
The original instalment launched in 1964.
Among those appearing in the programme is Nick Hitchon, whose father worked as a farmer in the Dales region.
Hitchon spent his childhood in Littondale before completing his education at a school in Skipton.
He passed away in 2023 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Prior to his death, Hitchon convinced the production crew to conduct a final on-camera interview at his residence in the United States.
The recording took place mere days before he died.
Hitchon was one of fourteen participants from throughout the United Kingdom who featured in the initial Seven Up!
documentary.
During those early interviews, the group discussed their aspirations and perspectives on existence.
Subsequent interviews were conducted at seven-year intervals, establishing an unparalleled documentation of their lives and cementing the series as a significant milestone in broadcast history.
70 Up: The Final Chapter is scheduled for broadcast on ITV1 at 9pm on Tuesday, September 15, with the second instalment available on ITVX from September 22.
